Can neck problems cause headaches?
Some headaches start in the joints and muscles of the neck. We treat neck pain, shoulder complaints and headaches of a neck origin with hands-on chiropractic care, stretches and, where it suits you, massage or medical acupuncture.
Not every headache comes from the neck. A full case history and examination come first, and if your symptoms point elsewhere we refer you to your GP or consultant.

A full case history: how the pain started, your headache pattern, work, sleep and general health.

Examination
Orthopaedic and neurological tests assess the nerves, muscles and joints of the neck and shoulders.

Report of findings
We explain the diagnosis and discuss the best options for you before any care starts.

Treatment
Gentle chiropractic care, with the option of massage or medical acupuncture, and stretches to do at home.
After your visit
Mild stiffness for a day is common. Keep moving your neck gently and do your stretches. Seek urgent medical help for a sudden severe headache, or one with vision changes, weakness or slurred speech.
Common questions
Chiropractic adjustments aren’t usually painful and any discomfort is very short lived.
